EnquireOne of 11,000 or so village halls in England - now why on earth would I know that???
Well, much of my Covid Lockdown time has been spent half employed, half volunteering, on a project to archive, document and celebrate the work of England's Rural Community Development workers. I can't say overmuch as the project is not yet public facing, but I am learning a lot about rural life in England - so unimpressive photographs of unimpressive buildings are really now quite my thing. This image speaks quite clearly of the times, with the hall being closed and deserted. But there is a fuller story to tell as village halls have played a vital role in all times of national emergency. So this image, on its own, somewhat belies a greater truth - although I feel it carries a certain poignancy.
