Project Background
In July this year I attended an introductory course in media production at Teesside University. It was mainly practical and I produced a series of photos, an audio feature and a video under the heading of The Ferret Menace! The idea was, in part, to demonstrate, in a tongue-in-cheek way, how media broadcasts can be manipulated to give a very biased position. However, it was mainly a celebration of the daft furry gets!
I did the audio in Adobe Audition as I hadn't used it before and it's what was suggested for the course. If you're interested in DAW's I'd recommend trying it. I was impressed because behind a very user-friendly interface, there's some pretty powerful tools. I drafted in friends and Ant to perform for me and they didn't disappoint. It was fun to make and I hope that comes through in the recording.
For the video assignment we were given the title 'Life As We Know It' - so I decided to make a spoof magazine show with our rats Mandy and Kerry as the anchors. It was all good timing as we'd arranged to go and introduce our alpha-ferrets, Dan and Daisy to a prospective new ferret (Lolly) at Hope Animal Rescue in Loftus. This inspired me to develop my idea into a heartwarming long lost friend feature. The final video was made up of existing footage and some specially filmed scenes. I did all the voices with a bit of help from the pitch-shift tool in Audition. It was edited and composited in Adobe Premiere Pro - again because this was the software suggested for the course and it produces decent results. Enjoy!
